About Terengganu FA

The Terengganu FA enters a team in Malaysian football competitions to represent the state of Terengganu and under the supervision of Terengganu State Football Association. The team is based in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia. They play in the top division in Malaysian football, the Malaysian Super League. Their home stadium is the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, Kuala Terengganu.
The team had won major trophies in Malaysian football. Domestically they has won 1 runners-up Malaysia Super League titles, 1 Malaysia Cup, 2 Malaysia FA Cup, 1 Malaysia Charity Shield and 2 Malaysian League Division II title.

2011 season
In 2011 season, Terengganu had won Malaysia FA Cup, runners-up Malaysia Cup and Malaysia Super League by guidance Irfan Bakti Abu Salim.
Terengganu won the title of Malaysia FA Cup for the second time. Therefore, they qualified to compete in 2012 AFC Cup. Nordin Alias became the hero for the team. He scored goals on extra time.

During Malaysia Cup, Terengganu lost to Negeri Sembilan FA during final match that held at the Shah Alam Stadium. In the quarter-finals, Terengganu overcame their rivals, namely Kelantan FA. In the semi finals, Selangor FA also become prey to 'Sang Penyu' when beaten 2-0 at home by two goals Abdul Manaf Mamat. While the second leg, Terengganu won 2-1 (Agg Terengganu 4-1).

In Final, Terengganu had opened the scoring through by Ashaari Shamsuddin in the 59th minute. In 81th minute, N.Sembilan equalized through a S. Kunalan. But, Hairuddin Omar was disappointing Terengganu with his 'bicycle kick' on 86 minutes into the match. Terengganu lost to N.Sembilan 1-2.
At the end of the season, coach Terengganu, Irfan Bakti has announced that he will move to another team for next season.


Terengganu FA are currently based at Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Terengganu FA. The stadium holds 15,000 people.

New stadium
At the start of the 2008 season, Terengganu FA used the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia, constructed by a South Korean construction firm. It was used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 50,000 people and is named after the reigning Terengganu Ruler, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin. The biggest stadium in the East Coast region of Peninsular Malaysia, it was built to replace Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium as the state's main stadium. Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin himself, who was then the 13th Yang DiPertuan Agong officiated the stadium on 10 May 2008. Its first major use was as the main venue for Sukma Games 2008.
